Overview of VEST development Platforms

VEST Development platforms VK8300, VK8100, and VK5100 offer our customers the fastest and easiest way to evaluate or develop an application on the VS8300, VS8100 and VS5100 System-on-Module embedded systems.

These development platforms provide off-the-self hardware for accurate software evaluation as they mimic the final product’s hardware system.

VEST development platforms use performance scalable VS8300, VS8100 and VS5100 series of System-On-Modules (SoM) modules, which can offer performance fine tuning during the feasibility or initial development phase. Understanding when to transition to the next higher performance SoM module is often a grey area and depends on the software application.

Each platform comes equipped with a multi-touch panel and a myriad of connections/interfaces for communication, embedded networking, audio, video, camera and storage. VEST platforms are flexible and support scalable architecture so they can be upgraded/updated and fine-tuned later in time if the need arises.

All development platforms use the same production-ready software and arrive preloaded with the choice of Embedded Linux or Android Operating System.

VK8300 series development platform uses the i.MX 6 series of application processors which offer a feature and performance scalable multicore platform that includes, Solo/Quad and Quad Plus, performance level options based on the Cortex A-9 architecture.

All the VK83xx platforms use the VS83xx SoMs which are performance and feature scalable options.

The VS83xx platform offers extensive connectivity options, as well as wireless technologies (802.11ac Wave 2 and Bluetooth) built right on the board itself. Designed with flexibility and scalability in mind, the VS83xx can deliver the best cost/performance option for the most demanding applications at a fraction of the cost of x86 microprocessor.

VK8100 series development platform uses the i.MX 6 series of application processors which offer a feature and performance scalable multicore platform that includes, Dual/Lo-Quad and Hi-Quad, performance level options based on the Cortex A-9 architecture.

All the VK81xx platforms use the VS81xx SoMs which are performance and feature scalable options.  The VS81xx was designed for performance and offers extensive connectivity options to support display, camera and audio functionality. Based on NXP i.MX 6 A9 SoC, the VS8100 can power most graphics intensive applications and devices.

VK5100 series development platform uses the i.MX 6 series of application processors which offer a feature and performance scalable multicore platform that includes, Sola and Dual-Lite, performance level options based on the Cortex A-9 architecture.

All the VK51xx platforms use the VS51xx SoMs which are the most compact, cost effective and feature scalable options.  The VS81xx was designed for products that feature rich multimedia & 3-D graphics capabilities with a small form factor. The VS5100 offers an affordable technology leap for micro-controller-based products to power the next generation of smart devices.
